Myth Busters Of Skin Moles: Wrong Assertions And Truths

There are constantly people who attract moles or are looking for ways to prevent moles.  In addition, people are many presumptions about moles that I am here to confirm or deny for good.  Again, and this is what I tell a lot of people: knowing more and more about a condition or problem allows you to better tackle that problem in a stronger fashion.

Moles are contagious and have a tendency to spread to other people who do not have moles on their body.  This is false.  Moles are not contagious and cannot spread from one person to the next person.  Now if you are thinking about warts, yes it can be the case where if you have warts and they’re open they can in fact spread to other people depending on the circumstances.  Now it is possible for a person to grow multiple moles on his or her body, but outside of that, nothing more in terms of spreading.

Moles can be painful.  Most moles are typically benign.  There, moles are typically not pain.  So, I would say as a myth buster this is false.  The only moles that are of medical concern are those that look different than other existing moles or those that first appear after age 20. If you notice changes in a mole’s color, height, size, or shape, you should have a dermatologist evaluate it. You also should have moles checked if they bleed, ooze, itch, appear scaly, or become tender or painful.

There are simple ways to prevent moles.  There aren’t really a number of simple ways to prevent moles from forming, so this statement is ultimately a false.   Since we cannot change our own genetics, it is not possible to prevent all moles. The more preventive measures of preventing moles are sun avoidance and sun-protection.

A doctor is the best means to conquer moles.  This is definitely a false.  For starters doctors cannot do more than what an individual with moles can do in terms of removing moles.  Doctors may have a slightly more sophisticated way of removing moles, however there are plenty of methods and tricks and tips on how to get rid of moles.  You just need to discover the right ways of doing it so it leaves less of a mark.

After a while moles can itch.  This is true.  Moles do have the potential of itching.  There are a variety of different moles. There are facial moles, hairy moles, red blood moles, itchy moles, flat moles and more. Itchy moles are a need for concern and moles should be checked by a skin doctor as soon as possible.  Another key is to try not to scratch your mole so much if it is in fact itchy.  You do not want to scratch the mole right off.

There are clear ways to tell if you have moles.  This is true.  There are typically clear ways of telling if you have moles.  They are usually black or brownish located on the skin.  They can vary in shape from oval to round.  They can be as small as a pinhead or large enough to cover an entire limb. Generally, moles are less than 1/4 inch.  The surface of a mole can be smooth or wrinkled, flat or raised. Sometimes a mole may start out flat and brown and later become slightly raised and lighter in color.
